Sport SA congratulates the Copper Coast Council on their successful bid to stage the 2021 South Australian Masters Games.

Mayor Roslyn Talbot said: “we are excited to be named Masters Games hosts for 2021. We hope the Games will attract over 1300 competitors to our wonderful region. They are a fun, competitive and highly social way to bring people together. There will be a wide range of sports and a full calendar of social events for competitors, visitors and their families.” Mayor Talbot went on to say “the Games will create a great economic boost for the region, bring the community together and are a fantastic opportunity to showcase our district.”

The Copper Coast Games will run from 15 - 18 April 2021 and will include 25 sports over the four days.

Copper Coast Council CEO Russell Peate commented: “these Games will be a huge event for the Copper Coast that will build on our history of hosting successful sporting and community events. This event is for local, regional and interstate competitors and is likely to attract international competitors on a sporting holiday. Within easy reach of Adelaide, the Games will appeal to the huge contingent of passionate Master’s athletes who travel far and wide for their sporting events.”

This event will celebrate the 25th staging of the prestigious South Australian Masters Games and the first for the Copper Coast region, with previous host regions including Tatiara, Ceduna, Clare, Mt. Gambier and the Riverland.

Sport SA CEO Leah Cassidy said: “congratulations to the Copper Coast Council on being awarded the 2021 Masters Games. Their strong bid filled us with confidence that they will put on a great sporting event. The Copper Coast’s beachside location is one of the most popular South Australian tourist destinations and will showcase the beautiful surrounds and some new sporting facilities for the Games. Copper Coast will have sporting precincts where groups of sports are played to build the atmosphere and excitement of the Games.

Masters Sport is a great way to enjoy lifelong involvement in sport as part of an active, balanced and healthy lifestyle for all South Australians. I urge all sporting people to visit Kadina, Moonta and Wallaroo in the Copper Coast region, enjoy the local hospitality and be a part of the 2021 South Australian Masters Games”.
