2026 Hockey SA Metropolitan Volunteer of the Year Award
Nomination Criteria
Only volunteers are eligible. Volunteers are considered to be individuals who are not paid for their activities and efforts on behalf of hockey (apart from reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses incurred). Those activities must be undertaken by the volunteer’s own free choice and without coercion, for a not-for-profit metro hockey club or Hockey SA. The Hockey SA Volunteer of the Year Award winner is ineligible for nomination in the same category in subsequent years. A nominee, who is not successful in one year, is able to be nominated again in any subsequent year.
Selection Criteria
A volunteer can be nominated for on-going work over the last 12 months or for work on one particular project within the last 12 months. The selection committee will consider the nominee against the following criteria -
- Noteworthy involvement in the South Australian hockey community – specifically the metro areas.
- Significant impact which has added value to the sport of hockey in metro South Australia.
- Inspiring efforts to enhance and promote hockey in South Australia.
- Personal determination.
- Scope of responsibility taken and length of time given.
- Dependability and enthusiasm.
The Award recipient will be the nominee who is deemed by the selection committee to have best met the criteria in an overall sense. The decision of the selection committee will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Nominations
Information must be entered onto the official Hockey SA Awards online nomination form. Nominations must be received by 5pm on Friday 21st August 2026. Nominations received after that time will not be taken into consideration.
Please note: Individuals only may be nominated for Volunteer of the Year, groups or organisations are ineligible.
Submission
Please read the nomination and selection criteria prior to completing the nomination form. Please submit the completed Nomination form and upload any other supporting documentation that you may wish to include which exhibits official recognition, such as newspaper articles, letters of support, certificates of achievement, awards etc. Prior to Submission, discuss your nomination with the relevant Club President or Executive Committee members.

The nominator understands that Personal Information (as defined in the Information Privacy Act 2000) derived from this form is recorded by Hockey SA for the purposes of the 2026 Hockey SA Awards. The Personal Information will be used solely by Hockey SA for these purposes and/or directly related purposes, including writing to the nominee. Otherwise, Hockey SA may only disclose this information if required to by law. In addition, the nominator understands that he or she may apply to Hockey SA for access to and/or amendment of the information that applies to him or her. Requests for access and/or amendment should be made to Hockey SA’s Chief Executive Officer.
