Hockey SA Umpire Awards
Hockey SA recognises the effort and commitment made by our metropolitan Panel Umpires in an endeavour to achieve at the club, state, national and international levels of hockey.
 

Umpire Nominations

You have been asked to assist Hockey SA by nominating suitable umpires from the Hockey South Australia Metro 1 and Premier League panels to be considered for the four awards. The shortlist will be presented to the Hockey South Australia Competitions Coordinator along with any supporting evidence you provide.

The four umpire awards recognise the achievements by South Australian Umpires and their commitment to personal development and increasing the standard of officiating in our state.

The four umpiring awards are outlined below. 

To be eligible for the below awards the umpire must meet the following criteria - 

  • Umpiring at a Metro 1 level or higher.
  • A Hockey SA member.
  • An Australian citizen or permanent Australian Resident

 

Award Categories

Reg Moyse Memorial Medal - Outstanding Service to Men’s Hockey

Selection Criteria - 

  • Highest performing umpire
  • Devotion to developing Men’s umpiring
  • Consistency in availability and dedication to umpiring duties

 

Evelyn Tazewell Memorial Medal  - Outstanding Service to Women’s Hockey

Selection Criteria - 

  • Highest performing umpire
  • Devotion to development of Women’s umpiring
  • Consistency in availability and dedication to umpiring duties

 

Margaret Baker Medal - Most Promising Umpire

Selection Criteria - 

  • Dedication to self-improvement
  • National appointment
  • Positive attitude toward umpiring and development

 

Henry Brown Medal - Services to Umpires

Selection Criteria - 

  • Devotion to development and mentoring
  • Attendance to meeting and application to training and development

 

Nominations
Information must be entered online via the relevant Hockey SA Awards nomination form. Nominations must be received by 5pm on Friday 21st August 2026. Nominations received after that time will not be taken into consideration.

The overall winner will be selected from the nominated list by the Hockey SA Umpire Development Group and the Hockey SA Competitions Coordinator.

All decisions are final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
