2026 Country Championships wrap-up

SOUTH Australia had a mixed bag of results across the 2026 Country Championships, which concluded on Saturday in Bendigo, Victoria.

The men finished in sixth position, with the best result coming against eventual bronze medallist Queensland in a 1-1 draw.

Meanwhile, the women climbed to fourth position to book a clash with New South Wales for the bronze medal but eventually lost on Saturday morning.

There was significant experiences to come out of the championships for South Australia and highlights to celebrate.

Cameron Higgins received the Player of the Match Award in the draw with Queensland, while Dana Jones and Sarah Harrison also took home Player of the Match nods against Queensland and Western Australia respectively.

The SA Country Men also won the Play the Whistle Award.
