PLAYER AGREEMENT & CODE OF CONDUCT

As a player selected to represent Hockey Australia, State Associations or Affiliated Associations in an event that is conducted or sanctioned by Hockey Australia, State Associations or Affiliated Associations, you must meet the following requirements with regard to your behaviour.

  1. I am bound by the rules of the South Australian Hockey Association Inc.
  2. I am prepared to comply with the requests and directions of the Team Coach and Manager concerning all team  matters.
  3. I will abide by my team’s Code of Conduct as specified by the Team Coach and Manager.
  4. I will not write or comment for the press, radio or television without the prior permission of the Chief Executive Officer of Hockey SA.
  5. I will be available for any promotional and media activities arranged by Hockey SA, and consent to my photo being published by the media or on the Hockey SA website and/or social media channels.
  6. I understand and agree that in accepting any personal sponsorship arrangements, it is my responsibility to ensure that they do not conflict with any Hockey SA or Hockey Australia sponsorship arrangements. If any conflict should arise, I accept that Hockey SA will be the sole arbiter in determining any action(s) that may be appropriate in such circumstances. I also understand that approval for the acknowledgment of personal sponsors on Hockey SA state team uniforms and kit is solely at the discretion of the Chief Executive Officer of Hockey SA.
  7. I understand and agree that it is my responsibility that while I am a member of a Hockey SA state team, I may be called upon to promote or participate in the promotion of goods and/or services for which Hockey SA has entered into sponsorship arrangements. I understand that failure to undertake my responsibilities may void my position in a Hockey SA state team.
  8. I also understand that I must not promote goods and/or services of a person or organisation which is in competition with those goods and/or services of a Hockey SA sponsor unless I have sought prior permission from Hockey SA to do so.
  9. I will not take or use any drugs or stimulants, nor participate in any other practices prohibited by the AOC, FIH, ASC, Hockey SA or Hockey Australia.
  10. * Hockey SA is bound by the ASDA anti doping policy. Players will need to contact Hockey SA if they require a drug declaration form.
  11. I will be available for any random drug testing which may be required by the Australian Sports Drug Agency.
  12. I will be responsible for the cost of any medical expenses incurred by me.
  13. I will meet all payments to Hockey SA by the date/s specified and understand that I may void my position in the team if payments are not received by Hockey SA as specified. In cases of financial hardship, I will contact Hockey SA as soon as I receive notofication for payment.
  14. I agree that in the case of bad financial standing with Hockey SA due to non-payment of my state team levies, my financial standing can be communicated to the club or association at which I am registered.
  15. I understand that any additional costs incurred by Hockey SA due to events such as damage of property or equipment, or any extra cleaning costs at the accommodation venue is not covered in my player levy and will be recovered from me if I am deemed responsible by Hockey SA.
  16. I will behave in a sporting manner at all times to all players, officials and spectators.
  17. I will not make detrimental statements in respect of the performance of any match officials or umpires.
  18. I will play by the rules at all times and ensure the game of hockey is not brought into disrepute by my actions.
  19. I will not engage in inappropriate and/or physical contact with any players or officials during the championships.
  20. I will accept responsibility for all my actions taken. I will exercise reasonable care to prevent injury by ensuring that I play by the rules. Reasonable care consists of showing due diligence in abiding by the rules and adhering to the officials decision.
  21. I will not bet on the outcome or on any aspect of a hockey match or competition.
  22. I will not try to achieve a contrived outcome to a match or competition, or otherwise improperly influence the outcome or any aspect of a match or competition.
  23. I will not show unnecessary obvious dissension, displeasure or disapproval (by action or verbal abuse) towards an umpire or match official as a consequence of his or her decision or generally.
  24. I will abstain from the use of tobacco and the consumption of alcoholic beverages for the duration of the championships.
  25. I will adhere to the Hockey Australia Member Protection Policy (found on the Hockey Australia and Hockey SA websites) for which Hockey SA is bound. Harassment consists of offensive behaviour, abusive, belittling or threatening behaviour directed at a person or group usually because they are different or perceived to be different from the harasser.
  26. I will refrain from using obscene, offensive or insulting language and/or making obscene gestures which may insult other players, officials or spectators.
  27. I will not do anything which adversely affects or reflects on or discredits the game of hockey, Hockey Australia, any member association or any squad, team, competition, tournament, sponsor, official supplier or licensee, including, but not limited to, any illegal act or any act of dishonesty.
