The Community Coach Developer Program provides clubs with practical, hands-on support to enhance the quality and delivery of their coaching sessions and overall programs.
Through an opt-in model, clubs can access a dedicated Community Coach Developer who will attend a session and work collaboratively with coaches and volunteers in a real-world environment. The focus is on building capability, confidence, and consistency, ensuring coaches are equipped to deliver engaging and effective sessions.
Key areas of support include:
- Increasing participant engagement by maximising activity time and reducing queues
- Supporting coaches with session design, planning, and delivery
- Improving session flow and transitions between activities
- Building coach confidence and communication skills
- Strengthening behavioural management strategies
- Enhancing parent and volunteer involvement, including introducing basic hockey skills
- Creating inclusive, player-centred environments that cater to all ability levels
- Supporting clubs to improve participant enjoyment and long-term retention
Each session is tailored to the needs of the club, identified through a short pre-engagement survey. Following the visit, clubs receive access to a range of resources and ongoing support to continue developing their programs.
This program is designed to not only improve individual sessions but to strengthen the overall club environment—creating positive, engaging experiences for players, parents, and coaches alike.
