]]> Feature Stories Tue, 31 Aug 2010 14:15:00 +1000 Gold for Australia at Youth Olympics http://www.hockeysa.com.au/ SA player Ryan Edge was part of the gold winning team. Hockey SA wish to congratulate Ryan Edge and the whole Australian Team on winning the Youth Olympic Games overnight. The boys beat Pakistan 2-1 in the final.

Hockey SA High Performance Manager Nick Lenoir was also away with this team as part of the coaching staff.

Well done boys.

]]> Feature Stories Mon, 23 Aug 2010 10:46:00 +1000 Open and Under 21 Indoor Trials http://www.hockeysa.com.au/ Dates and times for these State Team trials are now available The trials for the Under 21 and Open Men's and Women's indoor teams will take place at the Superdrome, Gepps Cross.

The trials will be on Monday 6th of September and Monday 13th of September.

Women: 6:30pm to 8:00pm (players asked to arrive at 6:00pm)
Men: 8:00pm to 9:30pm (players asked to arrive at 7:30pm)

Players are asked to bring a white and a dark shirt.

Nominations for these teams are still open and please contact dale.stephen@hockeysa.com.au if you wish to still register for these trials.

]]> Feature Stories Mon, 16 Aug 2010 13:35:00 +1000 Become an Active After-school Communities Coach http://www.hockeysa.com.au/ Free community coach training program coming shortly. The Active After-school Communities program provides primary school aged children with a positive introduction to sport and helps build the foundation needed for children to progress to local club sport.

This is achieved through our Community Coaches completing our Community Coach Training Program (CCTP) utilising the Playing for Life philosophy. The CCTP supports coaches to develop the necessary skills to deliver sports sessions and will provide you with the ideas, strategies and resources to deliver game based activities.

A free CCTP course is going to be held on Thursday 9th September at the State Sports Park, Gepps Cross for members of local hockey clubs who wish to become involved in the Active After-school Communities program.

The benefits of completing the CCTP:
* payment for coaching
* access to resources such as a CD ROM of innovative and fun game based activities
* opportunities to develop networks and pathways to increase your club membership
* a free nationally accredited coaching qualification
* opportunity to volunteer in your community
* opportunity to access grants to update facilities or purchase equipment for your club

]]> Feature Stories Mon, 09 Aug 2010 11:20:00 +1000 Coach and Umpire Assessors Course http://www.hockeysa.com.au/ Hockey SA in conjunction with the Australian Sports Commission is conducting a coach and umpire... The completion of this assessors course qualifies participants to assess umpires and coaches as part of Hockey Australia’s Hockey Ed program.

The course will be conducted on the 6th and 7th of November 2010 at the Office for Recreation and Sport in Kidman Park. Hockey SA will cover the cost of the course (we have pre booked 20 spots so far, however, if demand is there for more we will look at more spots).

For development of umpires and coaches it is crucial that we have a large number of trained assessors.

]]> Feature Stories Fri, 06 Aug 2010 15:51:00 +1000 2010 National Indoor Championships http://www.hockeysa.com.au/ Player nominations now called for Open, U21, U18 and U15 Men's and Women's state indoor teams. Hockey SA is calling for player nominations for those wishing to be considered for the Senior, U21, U18 and U15 Men’s & Women’s state indoor teams for 2010/11.

Players wishing to nominate for these teams are asked to read the information documents and complete the nomination form HERE and forward to the Hockey SA High Performance Manager, Nick Lenoir, no later than the dates listed in the information documents.

A $10 nomination fee must be included with your form.

Players will be required to attend both trials for the team nominating for or be granted an exemption due to extenuating circumstances to be considered for selection.

Venue and times for trials will be confirmed at a later date.

]]> Feature Stories Mon, 02 Aug 2010 11:55:00 +1000 2010 U21 Women's Championships finals http://www.hockeysa.com.au/ South Australia finishes fourth South Australia's Under 21 women's team finished fourth after the minor round of the 2010 National Under 21 Women's Championships. It was tough making it into the finals with only 5 premiership points between top spot and sixth place.

In their semi final the SA girls matched Victoria on the scoreboard early but were down 2-1 at half time. In an all out effort to attack in the second half they conceded another goal to finish the game 3-1 down.

In their final match for the tournament the SA couldn't match NSW in the play off for third, losing 5-0. SA held NSW scoreless for 28 minutes and went to the half time break only one goal down, but unfortunately conceded four goals in 10 minutes just after half time.

In the Grand Final Victoria defeated Queensland 2-1.

Please be advised this is the training element only. You will also be required to attend regular video analysis/psychology/recovery/pilates etc.

If you can not FULLY committ to the squad and it's programs, you will unfortunately will not be selected.
