2009 State Zone Championships

The State Zone Championships is a new concept introduced in 2008 to create a competitive and premier competition in South Australia. It gives players an opportunity to represent their zone and also play in the premier competition in the State. Selection for State Team Squads is based primarily on player’s performance at the State Zone Championships.

2009 State Zone Championships
The 2009 State Zone Championships will be held in Adelaide on the June long weekend (Saturday 6th - Monday 8th June 2009).

The State has been split into 6 zones:

  • Country West
  • Mid North
  • Riverland / Barossa
  • Country East
  • City East
  • City West

If you are unsure who you are eligible to play for, please see 'Who do I play for?' further down the page.

Zone will enter teams in the following divisions:

  • Senior Men
  • Senior Women
  • U17 Boys
  • U17 Girls
  • U15 Boys
  • U15 Girls

Please note: There will also be an U13 Boys & U13 Girls division that will be club and participation based held on the same weekend. Further information will be available shortly.

Venues will be finalised prior to the end of the 2008 Winter Season. Please keep looking at the Hockey SA website.

2009 State Zone Championships Trials
State Zone Championships trials will be held across the State on:

Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th April 2009

Please contact your zone contact for further information about your trials.

Who do I play for?
Please click here to see which zone you belong to! Rember you must play for the zone you first registered for. (This includes City players who have changed between City East & City West).

If you have not played in South Australia for two full seasons (prior to the beginning of the 2007 Winter Season), you are not eligible to play for the current zone you play in. If you wish to participate in the State Zone Championships, you will be nominated in the draft. Please complete the attached form and return to Hockey SA. Your details will be published on the Hockey SA website early in the new year for zone committees to view.

2009 State U13 Club Championships

The 2009 State U13 Club Championships will be held on Saturday 6th - Monday 8th June* 2009 at Grange Royals Hockey Club.

Divisions
There will be an U13 Boys & U13 Girls Division.

Nominations
Nominations are due Friday 24th April 2009 (nominations after this date will not be accepted). Nomination Form

Team lists are due Friday 15th May 2009.

Umpires
Each team must provide at least 1 umpire. There will be an umpire roster available prior to the Championships, and also at Grange during the weekend.

Fixture
The fixture will be available by Thursday 30th April 2009.

Cost
Cost will be $260.00 (fees include: pitch hire, lighting, water, trophies, medallions etc).

Rules
Rules will be sent out to clubs and posted on the Hockey SA website early in the new year.

*Monday 8th June: this date will only be used if required. This will depend on the number of teams that enter. This information will be available shortly after nominations close.
