Premier League Hockey Wrap Monday 6 May, 2013

Woodville's ladies played their re-scheduled match against Grange Royals last Wednesday, dominating the first half with Katie Wiese scoring twice and coming up trumps 3-0. Their visit to Adelaide a few days later however was an unhappy one despite being 1-1 at one point, Gabi Nance scoring 2 goals and Adelaide triumphant 4-1.

It was a similar story in the men's fixture, with Woodville fighting hard to be 1-1 with the Peas at half time. Returning to the pitch, Adelaide turned it up a notch as Woodville's tight discipline from the first half fell apart to see the Peas pile on 7 unanswered second half goals. Brodie Gleeson looked like his birthday wishes came true – getting a hat trick, while Jake Stacy and Nick Lohmeyer were strong performers also.

Grange Royals men showed marked improvement again for season 2013 although not quite able to get the job done. Sitting 2-0 up with ten minutes to go in the first half and doing their best to retain their lead against an in form side North East, the Royals tightened up and let North East complete their now-regular comeback win 3-2. Good news for the Sea Eagle ladies, getting their first win of the season with a convincing 3-0 win against the Zuluettes.

Katie Pisani's hat trick contributed to the Uni ladies walloping of Forestville 6-0. Conversely, 3 goals from Geoff Mills powered the Panthers men home to a 5-1 win against the struggling students - giving new coach Mark Ucinek plenty of homework and headaches early this season.

The Seacliff ladies fought gamely in a 1-0 defeat of the Burnside's girls, while the Tiger men and in particular Lachy Seabrook's 2 goals provided the polish that saw the men defeat the Bulldogs at Tiger Park.

The week ahead sees midweek fixtures commence, with Adelaide and Burnside ladies promising to be a tight battle at neutral venue Zulu Park. While the Wednesday night clash between Adelaide and Grange Royals looms as a highlight of the men's fixtures this week.
